TEHRAN On the proposal of the Mayor of Tehran, Morteza Alviri, and the agreement of the members of the City Council, a meeting of the City Council was held behind closed doors on Monday.

One of the members of the Tehran Islamic City Council, Mohammad-Hossein Lotfi, said that the closed-door meeting was held to discuss ambiguous points of the 2001 budget.

He added that it is the job of the council members to allocate the budget, but they want to examine it again.

Lotfi said that the governor only objected to part of the ratification that was related to his office, not to the whole decision made by the city council.

He added that the result of our conversation was to approve 100 billion rials to prevent the cessation of civil services and that is the municipality's responsibility.

The members of the Tehran City Council stressed that the mayor should allocate the budget, and if he can not, the city council is supposed to review the management of the city.
